Yes! I am finally finished with my art midterm project. I thought it would never be done. I think it turned out nicely. I like having a project that I've worked on for a long time. It's a nice sense of accomplishment.
I got a call a few days ago from a women at Second Baptist Church. She wanted to know if I wanted to paint the backdrops for their living nativity scene. I'm going to meet with her on Saturday to talk about the details. It would be really awesome for something I've painted to be seen by a large majority of the town.
A friend of mine who is a midwife here in Odessa called me to ask if I want to teach childbirth education classes at the birth center she is opening. (Which Odessa really needs) That's another great opportunity. I just need to get all my childbirth ed stuff together and review.
I'm looking at the course schedule for the spring. I think I have decided on the classes I want to take. Composition I (English), Figure Composition (Art), US History to 1877, and Contempary Math. All classes I need for my major. Three on the web which means I can be at home with the kids most of the time. I'll be going full time so I'll be eligible for some scholarships. I found a bunch at fastweb.com. I highly recommend it.

Re-trato de Familia
Yesterday in art class, we had a speaker instead of drawing. His name is Jaime Permuth. His (and his father's and brother's) art is being shown in the gallery at UTPB right now.
He was really interesting. His family is from Guatamala and he lives in New York city now. He and his father and brother each have about ten pieces in the exhibit. It's called Re-trato de Familia.
He also has a series of photos at The Jewish Museum in New York for the The Jewish Identity Project: New American Photography exhibit. He showed us his photos on his computer via one of those thingies that projects the computer screen on to the wall. The photos were very interesting. The exhibit will be traveling, so if it's in your area, I recommend seeing it.
I joined myspace.com today. I heard Kidd Kraddick talking about it this morning. So, surf on over, and if you're not psycho I'll add you as a friend.
I'm glad it's Friday. I don't have to get up at 6:30 tomorrow morning. I need to clean house this weekend. My husband is getting a new job and we're going to need a baby sitter when I'm in class. So, if there's going to be a semi-stranger in the house, I want it to be clean.

Yesterday was a good day. I hadn't finished the paper for my freshman seminar class so I took what I had with me to class at 1:00. At 1:15 the professor wasn't there yet, so we all signed in and left. Of course, I still have to finish the paper, but at least I have a couple more days to do it.
The paper is about our major and future career choices. I am seriously considering graphic design, but I think it would be really cool to work in the art department for a film or theater.
In my drawing class, we found out that we have until next Tues. to finish the assignment (still life in pencil) instead of it being due tomorrow. She felt like we were doing a really good job, but it was taking longer than expected. She didn't want our art to suffer due to time restraints. Also, she had alot of nice things to say about my work.
I need a scanner. Then I could post my art work in my blog.

Well, I still haven't finished that writing assignment that's due Tuesday. On the other hand, my midterm assignment in art is coming along nicely. The problem with the writing assignment is that it's just a bunch of bs. I'm usually good at writing bs, but I can't seem to get this one written.
Listening to Nellie McKay. Saw her for the first time on the Late Late Show. Her music is quirky, smart and upbeat.
Tomorrow I have a job interview at the community theater here. It's a part time job for assistant to the artistic director. I'd love a job like that. I probably won't be able to work the job into my schedule, but we'll see.
Did I mention how happy I am that they didn't completely cut the emails and comedy on the Late Late Show? Well, I am.

I should be writing something else
I'm supposed to be writing a Career Choice Paper for one of my classes. The odd thing is, it is supposed to be written about me, me career choices, strengths, weaknesses, etc., only we aren't supposed to use the word "I". I understand why we might be asked not to use the first person if we are writing, say, a book report, but how are we supposed to write a paper about ourselves without it? *Sigh* I guess I'll put everything together, email the prof, and see if she responds before the paper is due Tues.
The one good thing about the assignment is it started me thinking about other career choices besides my first one, graphic designer. I'm going to be doing more research about becoming a prop master. What a cool job.
In my Intro to drawing class, we are working on our midterm, a still life. I probably have 1/3 left to do and only one more class to work on it. That means I'll be going in this weekend. Need to stop wasting time online :)
It's almost time to go watch the Late Late Show. Last night Craig told us he bought a upright, arcade style video game which he is keeping in the dining room. It has Galaga, Mr. Pacman, and Ms. Pacman. I found Galaga online today. Cool game.

Email and Comedy Bits on the Late Late Show
What happened to the email on the Late Late Show? That was actually one of my favorite parts. Craig's monologue has been extra long during the past few shows. Is that a permanent thing? Don't get me wrong, I love to hear him talk, especially about himself, but I like the goofy comedy and such as well. Another thing missing is the photos of his guests.
Oh well, as long as i get to see Craig Ferguson on TV every night, i don't really care what it is he's doing. If he just wants to stare into the camera and smile, that'd be ok with me ;)
So, I guess Craig is feeling better, he didn't mention his sinuses on tonight's show.
By the way, if you want to read a funny review of the Late Late Show, check out Courting Craig Ferguson: The Late Late Show Diaries.

Swimming Lessons
My kindergartener started swimming lessons today. I hope he really learns how to swim. It will be good for him.
I'm still rollerblading and I haven't fallen down yet!

Chimera Twinning
I caught the last few minutes of this show,I am my own Twin, last night on TLC. I was trying to figure out what the show was about(like I said I only saw the last few minutes). I went online to see what was on during that time slot and find out about the show. As it turns out, the woman I saw in the last minutes of the show is a chimera. Chimeras occur when two fraternal (non-identical) twins merge together very early in pregnancy. Occasionally, this merger can produce a viable baby that might look the same outwardly as a "normal" baby.
Some of the known people who are chimeras found out after being genetically tested and finding out they have two sets of genetic material. Some chimeras are intersexed, the joining of a male and female fraternal twin.
Another type of chimera is a "blood chimera." This less dramatic occurance happens when the blood supply of two fraternal twins is shared in the uterus. The resulting twins may have two different blood types.
The word chimera comes from the greek mythological creature that had the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a serpent.
The TLC show will be on again OCt. 6, 2005.

Rollerblading
I got my first pair of rollerblades today, and I haven't broken anything yet! My kids and I went around the block with them on their tricycles and scooter. Boy am I out of shape.
I have a psych test that's due by tomorrow (online course).
Am I the only one who was disappointed Family Guy was a repeat?

It's October 1st
So, I'm going back to college after not being in school for 8 years. I'm taking ten hours this semester, so far making A's and B's. I'm majoring in Art with an emphasis in Visual Communications at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Maybe I'll graduate with in the next 4-6 years. I'm taking Intro to Drawing, Psychology and Music Appreciation this semester.
I have three boys and a husband and a cat. Fortunately the cat is female, so I'm not the only woman in the house.
Besides going to school and rasing a family, I spend my time online, updating my
Cafepress store, or watching TV. I'm addicted to Family Guy and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
